About Acer

Acer are probably the leading brand when it comes to producing high performance budget laptops with an extensive range of machines in a range of sectors such as laptops, desktop computers, servers, monitors, LCD TVs and digital devices. However, Acer are probably best known for their range of budget laptops, and actuall ranks as the top notebook manufacturer in 13 countries, including Italy, Spain and Austria.

Overall, Acer now stands as the fourth largest PC vendor in the world. The company employs more than 5,400 workers across the world, and reached more than $11 billion in revenue in 2006.

If you haven’t heard of Acer, then, the odds are good they’ll soon be on your radar screen. And if you’re interested more in quality than you are in price, you might be ready to help Acer continue its strong growth.

Acer already features several lines, including its well regarded Aspire series, its entry level Extensa series and its extremely sleek Ferrari line. And, yes, Acer’s Ferrari line – with its bold use of red coloring -- does feature the famous prancing horse emblem that you’ll find on the Italian sports cars of the same name. Unfortunately for U.S. buyers, the Ferrari line is not yet for sale in the United States.

If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line laptop computer, Acer might be your best choice. These computers are fast, durable and, yes, pricy. But if you’re rarely disconnected from your laptop, you might want to invest in an Acer.

Acer Extensa 5635

The Acer Extensa 5635 is geared toward professionals who need big computing power. This laptop’s big 15.6-inch display makes it easy for professionals to read reports, view PowerPoint presentations and scan white pages without having to strain their eyes.

The Extensa, which comes with 2 gigabytes worth of memory and a 160-gigabyte hard drive, can display up to 16.7 million colors on its screen. This laptop comes with Windows Vista Business, and runs on a single-core Intel Pentium T4200 processor.

Like all Acer machines, the Extensa 5635 looks good. It’s durable, too. On the downside, its battery is fairly weak, lasting for just an average of two hours until it needs to be recharged.

Though this is considered an entry-level member of the Acer lineup, it’s not a cheap laptop. Expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $600 for this computer.

Acer Aspire 3810 Timeline

If you’re looking for a laptop that is both powerful and portable, the Acer Aspire 3810 Timeline might be the right choice.

The 3810 Timeline ranks as the smallest notebook in Acer’s Timeline series for 2009. This notebook weighs just 3.5 pounds and, even more impressively, is only one-inch thick.

But just because the 3810 Timeline is thin, that doesn’t mean it’s not a high-performance machine. The laptop boasts a large 13.3-inch LCD display equipped with Acer’s CineCrystal technology, a bonus for any computer owner who wants to watch movies or TV shows on their laptop. This laptop even features an Intel GMA 4500 MHD graphics card so that it can easily display intricate graphics.

The 3810 Timeline should posses enough memory to handle just about any project. It comes with up to 4 gigabytes of DDR3 memory and hard disk drive that boasts 500 gigabytes of storage space. The 3810 Timeline runs on a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Again, though, the 3810 Timeline isn’t the cheapest of laptops, retailing for about $600. Remember, though, Acer laptops are known for their quality and reliability. They’ve never been thought of as a discount manufacturer.
