Apple MacBook: Affordable power (Free With Selected Mobile Phones)

Critics love Apple laptops for their computing power, special features, aesthetics and user-friendly nature. However, consumers don’t necessarily love their prices. Apple laptops may be top-of-the-line computing tools, but they’ve never been cheap. There is one exception, though, the Apple MacBook.

The MacBook now ranks as the most inexpensive of Apple’s laptop computers, retailing for $999. It’s less expensive than any computer in Apple’s MacBook Pro line.

Whether consumers consider that $999 a value, though, depends on how much importance they put on certain features. For instance, the MacBook does not come with either the SD card slot or the longer-lasting batter that are new additions to Apple’s MacBook Pro line.

The Apple MacBook isn’t as visually arresting as the laptops in the MacBook Pro line, either. The MacBook comes in white plastic casing. The MacBook Pros are far more stylish with their aluminum bodies.

However, if you’re more interested in computing power at budget prices – and stylish looks are not a priority – the Apple MacBook might be the ideal purchase.

Here’s a look at some of the MacBook’s features.

The MacBook is powered by a 2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, which keeps the machine’s applications moving quite nicely. Its graphics processor is a Nvidia 9400M. This is important to note, because Apple’s higher-priced MacBook Pro 13-inch computers rely on the exact same graphics processor. This means that the less expensive MacBook runs games and media functions every bit as effectively as do the pricier MacBook Pro 13-inchers.

The MacBook’s video screen is fairly standard for this price range of computers. It’s 13.3 inches with a resolution of 1,200-by-800. This, too, is the same as the screen size offered by the MacBook Pro 13-inch version. However, the MacBook’s screen is not LED-backlit.

The MacBook should boast enough computing power to satisfy most users. Consumers who use their computer mostly for word processing, cruising the Internet, sending and receiving e-mail messages and watching videos or listening to music, will find that the MacBook is more than up to the task.

However, those users who are more interested in advanced video editing or who want to run the most graphically intense video games may need to upgrade to a more powerful laptop.

The MacBook comes standard with a 160GB hard. That is an upgrade of 40GB from the previous version of this laptop. Users seeing more computing power can upgrade to a total of 500GB, though they’ll have to pay an additional $200 for this privilege. The MacBook comes, too, with 2GB of DDR2 RAM. Users can expand this to 4GB.

That’s a fair amount of power for a budget-priced laptop.

MacBooks have always featured keyboards that offer maximum comfort to users. That hasn’t changed with the latest MacBook. The keyboard on this laptop is raised slightly enough so that users can type for long sessions without experiencing any undue discomfort.

The raised keyboard is also quite sensitive. Users don’t have to bang the keys hard to get a response.

The MacBook touchpad, though, is not quite as nice as the version included in MacBook Pro models. That’s because it is not a clickable button-free one. Still, the MacBook’s touchpad is capable of multi-touch moves.

In summary, the MacBook remains a good buy for anyone looking for a powerful computer at a reasonable price. Apple laptop computers have long been synonymous with quality. They’re largely bug free, and contain many features designed to make computing a stress-free experience.

The bargain-priced MacBook is no exception. It may not look as stylish as its peers in the MacBook Pro line, but it performs nearly as well, for hundreds of dollars less.

Whether you’re looking to buy your first laptop or you’re a veteran of mobile computing, the Apple MacBook is a wise investment.
